Vicki Movsessian | Program Director and Mentor  

Founder of the Spitfires Program 17 seasons ago.  Has coached teams at all levels from U8-U19.  Serves as a mentor to players in the program and actively works on player placement in prep schools and colleges.  She is an Olympic Gold Medalist from the 1998 Olympic Games held in Nagano, Japan.
Completed her undergraduate education at Providence College in 1994, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  She is the Former Assistant Coach at Northeastern University and Providence College.  
Was a member of the US National Team for five seasons, winning 2 Silver Medals in the World Championships and 2 Silver in the Pacific Championships.  Now that her competitive playing days are over, her goal is to educate, motivate, and inspire young girls to believe in themselves enough to try and achieve their dreams.

Larry Movsessian | Coaching and Skills Director  

Has been an integral part of the Spitfires program for the past sixteen seasons... Currently serves as our Coaching and Skills Director as well as our 19U Major 1 Head Coach... Was an offensive standout and team captain at Arlington Catholic High School... Compete at the collegiate level at UMASS Boston and played junior hockey with the South Shore Braves... Shares his passion of the game and sincere desire to educate with every coach and player in the Spitfires organization.

Karen McCabe
 | Coach U16/19, Mentor to U10-U16, Spitfire/USA Hockey Player and coaching Registrar  

Coach Karen begins her 16th season with the Spitfires. Karen shares with all teams her playing, coaching and administrative talents.  Her passion for competition and the sport of hockey has impacted hundreds of players over the years.  She is an active advocate for Spitfires in their placement into prep schools and colleges.
Prior to joining the Spitfires, Coach Karen served as for 10 years as the Head Coach of Newton North High School Girls Varsity Hockey Team. 
 

As a player – Coach Karen was a member of 3 ECAC Championship Teams at Providence College.  She was a ECAC All- Star, All Tournament Team Selection, and Hockey Writers All Star Team.  She attained her MBA from Northeastern University.  She is a 1996 Graduate of Providence College with a computer science degree and math and business minors.  She skated among Several National team and Olympic Team members.  Coach Karen represented the US at many US National Camps.  She played for Assabet Valley winning many National Championships.  She is a native of Quincy, MA and grew up playing boys hockey for Quincy boys travel teams.

U8 Coaches

Kim McManama O’Brien | Head Coach U8 Major 

Coach O’Brien is excited to return to the Spitfires coaching staff! Since graduating from Harvard University in 2000, O’Brien has coached at various levels including division I college, prep school, and most recently, youth hockey. Of note, she coached the first ever Spitfire team to earn a spot at Nationals (2005, U12) where they made it to the semifinals in Centennial, CO. O’Brien grew up playing hockey for Assabet Valley and Milton Academy. She went on to play for Harvard University where she was most improved player 1997-1998, co-captain 1999-2000, and her team won the National Championship in 1999. In addition, O’Brien was on the Ivy League All-Academic Team 1999-2000, ECAC All-Academic Team 1998-2000, and graduated cum laude. O’Brien is now a research scientist at Boston Children’s Hospital and Education Development Center, and is on the faculty at Harvard Medical School. O’Brien’s coaching mission is simple: Work Hard; Team First, Be the Best Version of Yourself.

U10 Coaches

Keith McLean | Head Coach U10 Major 1

Keith McLean played four years of high school hockey at Noble & Greenough School in Dedham, MA, serving as captain in 1991. Keith played one season of college lacrosse at Harvard before joining the Harvard Hockey Team for three years, helping the team capture ECAC and Ivy League titles, a Beanpot and a Frozen Four appearance. Keith has been a coach with the Spitfires since 2014.

Michele Selzer Lahah | Assistant Coach U10 Major 1 and U14

Michele Lahah joined the Spitfires 4 years ago.  She works closely with our U10 and U14 Teams.  She is a mentor and role model to young female athletes!  She is the former Head Coach of New England College, Former Assistant Coach Manhattanville College, former Assistant Director of the Westchester Skating Academy.  She was a member of the Women's Swiss Hockey League in Lyss, Switzerland.  She is BA Graduate St. Lawrence University and received her Masters of Education from Manhattanville.  She currently teaches Middle School Social Studies in Millis. 

U12 Coaches

Joe Hulbig |  Head Coach U12 Major 1

Joe Hulbig, along his two daughters Gretta and Georgia, joined the Spitfires Organization in 2013 with excitement to develop young hockey players.  His teaching style and demeanor with our players will inspire a competitive and fun team environment. Joe currently works in Providence College’s development office working closely with the hockey programs. He was the 13th overall pick in the 1992 NHL Draft to the Edmonton Oilers.  Joe played 8 years of professional hockey, playing 5 in NHL seasons with 3 organizations – Edmonton Oilers, Boston Bruins, New Jersey Devils. 

Prior to his NHL career, he attended Providence College and captained the 1996 Hockey East Championship team. Prior to PC, Joe attended St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, MA.

U14 Coaches

 

Rob Atkinson – Head Coach U14

Coach Atkinson begins his 3rd season with the Spitfires and first as Head Coach.  Played professional hockey for 3 years after college…a 1994 Graduate of Merrimack College, offensive standout at Merrimack and selected to play in the Shrine East-West College Hockey Classic in 1994.  Won a Canadian National Jr. Hockey Championship (Tier 2) with the Vernon Lakers of the BCJHL in 1990.  He has a passion for the game and enjoys sharing his knowledge with the girls.

Peter Gallagher |  U16 

Coach Gallagher begins his 6th Season as a member of the Spitfire Family.   With more than 20 years of coaching experience, Coach Gallagher is excited take on the Head Coach position with our U12 major 2 Team.  He has served as a coach for the Boys Boch Blazers 2000 team from 2011-2014, was the goalie coach for 2000-2001 Jr.Terriers, founded and directed three 3 on 3 programs focusing on skill development and skating technique between 2002 and 2010, and was the director of the Bridgewater Bandits Boys AAA Elite program.  From 1998-2002 he served as the Associate Head Coach at Bridgewater State College taking the team from last to top 3 in four seasons.   
Coach Gallagher is a graduate of Framingham State College and a 4 year member of their Varsity Men's Hockey Team.  He is a graduate of Oliver Ames High School playing 4 years of varsity hockey.  While at Oliver Ames, he earned all scholastic honors, was a 2 time all Hockomock and remains the top 5 scorer of all time.
